After The Hidden Moon by Birge Harrison 1907
Moon hiding behind night clouds.
Faint hearted
I stare at the painting.
The night is stark and black
like the mysteries of the subconscious.
As I gaze into the night sky
moonlight diffuses around the clouds of paint
which seems to move
with an unseen wind.
Moonlight is but a reflection of our star
just as conscious patter derives from the
subconscious.
On the precipice of speech words emerge
out of the swirling---
self, poised
to be revealed
