Two Poems by Brian Vargecko

Passively Aggressive 3rd Degree Burns at Breakup Time

She might have been stroking

She might have been stroking

her forearm like a cat before

She was stroking her forearm like a cat then

I recall

I recall her stroking her forearm like a cat

because she was standing in front of the stove

She was standing in front of the stove

with the kettle blaring

She was standing in front of the stove

with the kettle blaring and she was

stroking her arm like a cat

I said Aren’t you going to turn off the stove

instead of standing there stroking

your forearm like a cat? Can’t you

hear the kettle blaring?

When I’m through I’m throwing this water at you

she said

And that’s why we’re here

The Wave Of The Electron

Quantum wavefunction —

Only a wave when you’re not looking ―

Different electron systems

have different functions

says the lowercase psi symbol

a function of (x)

telling you all you need to know

of a wave’s shape

but not telling you

anything

what shapes mean
